Alexandra Quintero - Biographical Profile

She was born in Esmeraldas (Ecuador) in 1971, and lives and works in Quito (Ecuador) and Torreglia (Italy).

 

She is married and has two children.

 

She studied economics in Ecuador, Italian language and business management in Italy. She pursued art studies in Italy (Accademia di Brera, Milan) and in Ecuador. In Milan, she was a student of Maestro Giovanni Rubino (Naples 1938 † Milan 2021).

 

He speaks Spanish and Italian fluently; he also has basic knowledge of English and French.

 

She has been registered, since October 2017, in the Registro Unico degli Artisti Ecuatoriani (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Culture, Republic of Ecuador).

 

Since November 2018, he has been a member of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana “Benjamín Carrión”, Nucleo del Pichincha.

 

Since December 2018 he has been Permanent Ambassador for Culture, Republic of Ecuador.

 

Since 2024 she has been Secretary of the Montevenda Fundation (foundation for the development of “ethical engineering”, Ecuador).

 

Since 2015 she has been the delegate for Ecuador to the Mediterranean Parliament.

 

Since 2019, he has been a member of the organization “Pueblo Negro” (Ecuador).

 

Since 2020 she has been the National Delegate of the Cumbre Mundial de las Artes, las Ciencias y la Espiritualidad por la Paz y la Vida.

 

In 2021, he received recognition for his cultural activity from the “Manuela Espejo” Foundation of Quito.

 

In 2022 she was awarded an honoris causa degree in Art History by the “Felipe Villanueva” University of Mexico.

 

In the year 2024, he received recognition for his artistic activity from the Cumbre Mundial de las Artes, las Ciencias y la Espiritualidad por la Paz y la Vida.

 

In 2024, the Government of the State of Morelos (Mexico), the International Center for Employment Intelligence of Quality and the World Knowledge Summit dedicated a bust to her in the gardens of the Casa della Cultura ("Paseo de las Mentes Brillantes") in the City of Cuernavaca for her contribution to the cultural growth of the Americas.

 

He is promoting the creation of the Fondazione Centro Studi di Arte, Cultura y Restauro Arcadia in Ecuador.

 

She has written, in Italy, for the magazine “Lux Terrae” (Rome); in Ecuador, for the international magazine “Desde la Tierra del Sol”.

 

One of his works (“Tarsila”, oil on canvas, 50×60 cm, 2017) is in the collections of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana “Benjamin Carrión” in Quito.

 

He teaches art classes in various locations in Ecuador (Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana “Benjamín Carrión” in Quito and “Casa Museo Kingmann” in San Rafael), with particular attention to children and young people.

 

During his stay in Europe, he became acquainted with and closely studied the great works of the masters of European art and architecture, from which he partly draws inspiration for his works, combining it with the artistic tradition of Latin America and symbolic, anthropological, and ethnic elements.

 

In this sense, in his works, there are references to Henri Matisse, Paul Cézanne, Vasilij Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, but also to the Latin American literary tradition of the 20th century, including, for example, Jorge Luis Borges.

 

In particular, Alexandra Quintero is interested in the possible ancient historical and cultural connections between Latin America, ancient Greek culture, ancient Indian and Egyptian culture, which she investigates and analyzes in her works.
